High waisted skirts High waisted skirts

This spring, the easiest way to tap into the retro movement is by introducing a high-waist skirt to your wardrobe. It can be a formal piece with strict lining and mobility or one imitating the playful silhouette of the ‘50s. This trend has taken a plunge into the nostalgic ocean of the 1950s, while staying true and proud to the modern aesthetic of 2012 fashion trends.
The Gatsby buzz in the fashion industry brought with it an inundated basket of variations in the 1920s fashion, one of them being the drop waist. However, the high-waist skirts for spring 2012 create a notable contrast against the drop waist, giving you all the more reason to embrace the trend. The high-waist skirt has a decorous appeal to it, with its stiff silhouette and versatile fabrics. This piece of clothing will prove to be the most amending and adaptable piece of clothing in your wardrobe, this season, and you need to keep reading after the jump to understand why.

Spring fashion trends for 2012: Big, bold color

When it comes to color this season, you're in the captain's seat.
Some sort of palette dominates the spring fashion lines each year -- neutrals and sandblasted looks were hot last year -- but this spring, it's tough to pinpoint one specific group of hues as the trend.
Every color is on trend.
Yellow washes out your skin tone? Wear aqua. Think orange clashes with your hair color? Try purple.
If you only want to wear a little bit of color, try a bright piece of jewelry or an eye-catching pair of heels. Opt for a soft floral pattern or a mix of pastels if you're shy about bold prints.
Feeling a little adventurous? Embrace the colorblocking trend and wear all of your favorite solid-color pieces together. Wild? Absolutely!
Spring has tossed overboard those dark, gray days of winter and put you at the helm. So, come on. Let's have a little fun.
Spring 2012 fashion trends:
Pleats: You'll find pretty pleats on shorts, pants, skirts, dresses and even blouses this spring.
Ruffles: Add a little flirty, feminine charm to your wardrobe. You'll see ruffles on dresses, skirts, tops and more. But don't overdo it. Pick only one piece that features the detail or risk looking like a 1980s prom queen.
Orange: The folks at Pantone named tangerine the color of the year, and designers everywhere have taken note. Items in juicy orange shades are ripe for the picking.
Color denim: If there's one must-have item this spring, it's a pair of color denim jeans. Play it safe and top yours with a simple black-and-white top, or go for broke with a mix of your favorite hues.
Polka dots: This peppy pattern has staying power. It popped up on our trend watch last spring and is still wildly popular.
Colorblocking: We showed you colorblocked looks -- items with several areas of solid color -- last spring, and they're still hot for 2012. The Gianni Bini stacked sandals you'll see in these pages are among our favorite examples.

5 pieces to keep into the New Year

5 pieces to keep into the New Year

As the excitement of a new year hits, we're jumping onto 2012's trends faster than we can belt out the last drunken verse of Auld Lang Syne. But rather than buy everything anew, there's plenty from fall that can carry over. Here are 5 key pieces that will continue to serve you into spring.

Flying head first into a new year brings a rush of excitement: out with the old, in with the new. In many ways we want to start afresh. The seasons are ticking over more slowly than our calendars seem to, but still we’re mentally prepared to jump into 2012′s fashion trends before we even get to the last drunken chorus of Auld Lang Syne.
For fashionisers in the Northern Hemisphere that means dreams of spring 2012. Indulging in a carefully curated wardrobe means you’ll be picking up key pieces during the sales as well as pulling fall 2011′s pieces across the line into spring 2012.
To help you decide what to keep and what to shelve, here are 5 pieces that trended on the fall 2011 runways, quite possibly made their way into your wardrobe, and will still serve you wonderfully well into spring.

The wide leg pant.
While heavy wool or lined pairs might not be ideal for the heat, wide legged pants in lightweight fabrics or denim can easily make the transition to spring. Lighten up dark coloured pants for the warmer months by pairing them with light colours up top – and swap the boots for wedges or high heeled sandals.
2. The tuxedo jacket.
An easy option for heading out after hours, it’s is a classic that goes well beyond the A/W 2011 season. For spring white or cream takes are a dream with everything from dresses to shorts – but fall’s classic black dinner jacket is also a keeper.

 3. The leather harness.
It can be fetishist and hard, but it doesn’t have to be. For spring layer your leather accessories over floating fabrics, light colours and relaxed tailoring.

 Ruffian A/W ’11 and Doo Ri S/S ’12.
and Doo Ri S/S ’12.
4.The high slit dress.
While the runways for both seasons have seen plenty of evening wear takes, you can also work a casual slit into your wardrobe come spring. Pair a slit skirt with a cotton tank for an effortless summer take.
 5.The ’60s peter pan collar.
From the black and white strictness of Louis Vuitton to the fresh, candy colours of spring: a sweet sixties look is still lifted by the addition of a round peter pan collar.

Sophie Theallet RTW Fall 2012

For fall, Sophie Theallet envisioned a family of aristocrats who lost their fortune and stopped maintaining their castle. “They still look beautiful and continue to live an elegant life,” Theallet said during a preview. The idea translated into a faded notion of glamour — as if Theallet’s woman was pulling looks from her closet, like a brown knit turtleneck tucked under a black cocktail dress, and a draped Swiss-dot dress cinched at the waist, all of which had a slightly vintage feel. She drove the theme home with an ornamental, brocadelike pattern in various color combinations, which could also work well as a chic wallpaper — perhaps the one in her protagonist’s grand, run-down home.

Try a creative pigtail variation

These pigtails will set you apart from a sea of french braids! They give off a rocker-artistic vibe that's totally cool for a girls night out, or just looking awesome walking the halls at school.
How-to:
1. To add height, tease the hair in front, then spritz it with a flexible hold hairspray.
2. Split hair in two from the back, then take each section and separate into two pieces.
3. Twist and tie hair in knots (like shoelaces) and repeat until you get to the end. Use a heavy shot of hairspray at the ends to hold the style.

Oriental opulence- a blossoming trend

If you’ve started keeping a keen eye out for oriental pieces, then your next craving may be inspiration on how to style them. For as a trend into 2012 it’s all about subtlety, not stepping out of the house looking like you’re headed to a costume party dressed as a Geisha. Enter Elle Sweden with a shoot that’s a pretty good start, incorporating simple flowing silks and fluttering kimonos, styled with the right degree of subtlety, rounded out by fresh orchids as hair accessories and a beauty look that’s softly exotic yet very much played down.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Spices Up Maxim Cover (April 2012)

I don’t usually write about Maxim girls but Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has done their April 2012 cover, looked so amazing posing in lovely lingerie pieces that I decided to break my rule. The actress, whose figure is absolutely flawless, appeared smiling and sexy on the front page wearing a lacy black set and a chic nude coat.

The 31-year-old, who plays a prostitute in her new TV series, The Client List, shared with Maxim magazine readers that it was her first character so ‘overtly sexy’. She said:
I’ve never played a character who is this overtly sexual. It’s definitely going to be a departure from the normal stuff I do.”

When asked what her favorite body part was Jennifer Love Hewitt said:
It’s horrible to say, but I like my boobs. They’ve always served me well. They’re good.”
Speaking about how she stays so slim Jennifer said she used pole dancing:
It’s a great way to stay in touch with your sexuality. I also love to cook, so I can have a cake in the oven while I do a pole dance.”

There were many other things Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed withMaxim representatives but one line made me regret that I started reading the interview in the first place. She said:
It might sound so stupid, but guys do not hit on me. “I’m not really sure why.”

How To Make A Guy Want You?

Light travels faster than sound, so the first impression that you have about a guy is about what he looks like. And when you look at him, you know that you want to get to know him. Keyword here being ‘want’. The thing about physical attraction is that sometimes, it can exhilarate you, and sometimes, in spite of the adrenaline rush that you feel, every time you see that guy passing by, you are enveloped by this sense of self doubt. You are attracted to him, that’s for sure (if you weren’t, you wouldn’t be reading this). You know that you want him. You just don’t know if he wants you back. So, there’s this emotional (and oft times physical) upheaval going on about how to make a guy want you. You want to know the secret to how to make a guy fall in love with you, at least for a short while, until you can decide if he’s worth your time and effort or not. So, let’s get to these very important tips then.
Ways to Make a Guy Want You
There are some questions that will find their way into a girl’s mind, by default, once she starts realizing the presence of the opposite sex around. When she looks around and spots that one guy who makes her go all (cliche alert!) weak in the knees. How to make a guy like you? What to say to make a guy want you? How to get a guy to notice you? These questions will remain unanswered for quite some time. Until she realizes that the answer lies with no one but herself (and sometimes with the Internet). Until she discovers the inner flame that burns within her, for that guy she’s stuck on, she’s not going to know what to do. So, let’s see how we can be of help, to answer this pressing question.
Look Nice
You’ve probably read this in a million other articles on how to attract men, but that does not make it less true or less important. As said earlier, light does travel faster than sound. So obviously you need to be seen in a good light for the guy in question to know that you exist. We’re not talking over-the-top-made-up-to-look-like-a-porcelain-doll exist. There are very basic grooming tips that you need to follow, in order to be (for lack of a better word) ‘visible’. They include an immaculate hygiene routine. Be clean and smell good. A feminine fragrance is one of the major turn-ons for men. Secondly, rest yourself well. Agreed that you want to maintain a well toned body, but that does not translate to overworking yourself to such an extent that you look ghostly pale with tons of make-up on, and like a scary crone without it.
Feed Yourself
You know most women believe that what men find attractive in women is a stick thin figure. Boy do they have it wrong! Sure, they appreciate a woman who can take good care of her body with a regular exercise regime, but not to the point of looking like a toothpick! So follow this piece of advice, and this comes from a very good guy friend of mine, EAT! Yes, that right! In fact, many guys I know say that it’s really putting off, when all a girl is worried about is how many calories she’s going to gain by eating something she obviously wants to, but doesn’t. All they want to know is ‘who’s stopping you?’ They take you out because they like you, and then you go and order yourself a salad that looks as unappetizing as a golf ball. Does he bicker about how less you’re eating? NEWS FLASH! He wants you to eat! Eat whatever you want in the whole wide world! Don’t starve yourself on his expense. You can work it all off at that ridiculously overpriced gym that you’re a member of. And for heaven’s sake, don’t worry about the curves! Didn’t you hear? They’re back!
Be Passionate
Passion is something that is absolutely essential for a relationship to survive. Mind you, passion encompasses many more things than just physical passion. A passion for life, a passion for a hobby, about something, about anything. This is one of the major contenders on the what guys like about girls list. Just looking pretty is not enough. You need to have a good head on your gorgeous shoulder too! Talk to him about things that you are passionate about. Talk to him about things he is passionate about. Just, please, talk about things you know rather than about things that you have no idea about. Give him a little credit. Just like you can tell when a guy is being fake, so can he!
Drop the Prop-ah!
This might surprise you, but there are some things that work wonders if you want to know how to turn a guy on. They may have never occurred to you, but they are true. Guys like it when a woman can break free from her ‘perfect’ image once in a while. They don’t expect you to be lady like all the time. In fact, they enjoy it if you swear occasionally, cuss about random things, sit in a pair of boxer shorts and a sweatshirt, and do things that are totally unlike you. They don’t mind letting you be in control, provided you know where you’re heading. So if you’ve really tried everything and yet cannot get him to make the first move, then it’s up to you. Go ahead, and tell him precisely what’s on your mind. Watch his expression change from confusion to delight to shock to desire (in that order).
Be Comfortable
One more sure shot way to make a guy want you is to be comfortable. Comfortable with who you are. Comfortable in what you wear. Comfortable about the way you look. Don’t hyperventilate for minuscule things. Be calm, look and feel comfortable. Exude confidence in whatever you do. There’s nothing more appealing to a guy than a girl who knows what she wants, where to find it, and how to get it. So, drop all your inhibitions and just enjoy the time that you’ll spend together, instead of constantly worrying about mundane things like your hair or your makeup.
Touch and Feel
By using the tips in the preceding paragraphs, we’re assuming you’ve at least succeeded at asking him out, or are dating the guy for a while now. Now that you have his attention, you need to do the most sensuous things that will have deafening sirens and alarms going off in his mind and body. In the course of your conversations, touch him constantly. Do this in an inconspicuous manner. You don’t want to look like an obscenely desperate girl. Some of the things that you can do to make him go crazy, are give him a sensuous head massage or foot massage, works even better. Touch his arms while you talk. Place your hand on his thigh, if you’ll are seated next to each other. (WARNING: This is a very sleek move, which if not practiced, can go disastrously wrong, and end in a severely embarrassing situation for both parties in question). Rub his shoulders if he’s sitting on a chair and you’re standing behind it. Eye contact is overrated. Do any of these things, and when he looks at you, look just once to make sure you’ve got your point across, and then slyly look away. If not anything more, some heavy kissing will definitely happen before the night is up.
The tips mentioned above may not make him fall in love with you all at once. But there’s a pretty good chance they’ll make a guy want you. And once he wants you, all you have to do is turn on the remaining charm. Make him want to see you again and again, each time with a renewed urgency while you revel in sheer glee!

Top 10 Everyday Skin Care Tips

  1.     For sensitive skin use strong acne products less often. Often you may be discouraged by a product if it has salicylic acid or other strong ingredients after seeing irritation from days of use. If you have sensitive skin, try building up to using a product daily. If your skin is very sensitive, you may find that you can only use the product every few days.
  2.     Blotchy, streaky fake tanner can be fixed! So…you’ve botched your self-tanner job. Don’t worry! Combine lemon juice and salt and use this to eliminate streaks.
  3.     Greasy hair product could be causing your acne. Do you have acne that just won’t go away on your forehead? The culprit may be the products that you’re using on your hair. Try wearing your hair away from you face for awhile to see if there is any improvement. If so, you may have to be more careful about the ingredients in your hair products.
  4.     Sugar, available almost everywhere, is a great on-the-go exfoliate. If you’re out of town in a hotel and you didn’t pack exfoliator, try using the complimentary packs of sugar. Put a little bit in your hand with your face wash and voila!
  5.     If your must pick a blemish, get the right tools. Everyone knows that you’re not supposed to pick at blemishes. But if you insist, try getting a blemish extractor. You can find them at Sephora or at most drug stores.
  6.     Shaving cream alternative that still prevent razor burn. If you’ve ever had razor burn your probably are reluctant to shave at all when you’ve run out of shaving cream. As a substitute, try olive oil or hair conditioner.
  7.     Makeup rules to follow for acne prone skin. If you’re prone to acne or skin-irritation, be vigilant about clean cosmetics. Only put makeup on when you have a freshly washed face to avoid getting bacteria in your cosmetics. And once a week, wash your cosmetic brushes. You don’t need a fancy brush cleanser, try using a regular makeup removing facial cleanser.
  8.     Treat back acne just like blemishes on the face with daily skin care. Back acne or ‘bacne’ can really flare up during the summer time. To address it, try using a body brush with a clarifying cleanser (usually contains salicylic acid) for the body to exfoliate twice a week.
  9.     Don’t treat bumps on back of arms like pimples! If you have bumps on the back of your arms or legs that may be keratosis pilaris which is protein buildup on hair follicles. Instead of scrubbing, which may irritate the areas further, try using moisturizers with lactic acid or glycolic acid to reduce the protein build up.
  10.     Some dry skin could be due to a lack of vitamins. Have cracks or sores at the corners of your mouth? The issue may be deeper than dry skin. You may have a Vitamin B or Iron deficiency. Make sure you’re taking the right vitamins to keep your skin healthy. A great multivitamin, calcium, omega 3s and folic acid (for women who could get pregnant…accidents happen!) is a great place to start.

Heidi Klum’s sexy pictures for Page Six

Heidi Klum is perfect! She is a mother of three and is expecting her fourth baby soon but that doesn’t make her look worse. Just have a look at the pictures taken when she was three months pregnant.

However, the woman’s body can never be the same after a baby delivery. The model understands this and doesn’t feel a lot frustrated about it.
She told Page Six:
It’s bizarre. Just as it’s a miracle that you can grow a human being in your belly, it’s a miracle that your body goes back to normal again.
I don’t think you ever get back to exactly the way you were, but you do get close. And I’m happy with that. Especially when you see your kid for the first time.’
Well, this actually can mean that we shall never see the photos of Heidi revealing too much flesh again.
The photoshoot was taken for free quarterly magazine Page Six, distributed with the New York Post.
The Victoria’s Secret star, says she is going to stop with kids after her daughter arrives.
She says:
We’re outnumbered… four is perfect – three is a lot, but four? It’s a lot of work.’
Heidi hasn’t chosen the name for her baby yet:
‘Because we know it’s going to be our last baby, it’s way harder. We’ve never had this back and forth before,’ said the woman.

Celebrity Style Profile: Emma Stone’s Best Red Carpet Looks

Emma Stone has been acting since she was 16 but only in 2011 she became really famous after her Easy A, Crazy, Stupid, Love and The Help films. And it was then that she started to receive invitations to nearly every big movie event. Whenever she appeared on the red carpet she made a statement with her impeccable fashion sense and attention to details.
Emma Stone’s choice of dresses for special events is sometimes surprising but always successful no matter what designer she opts for. Speaking about designers, we can say Emma prefers Lanvin, Elie Saab, and Chanel, but she has also worn Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Roland Mouret, Luca Luca, Balenciaga and Tom Ford.
Emma Stone does not stick to a certain type of dresses for her red carpet appearances. She wears all lengths, colors and style. She never sports anything vulgar or too revealing and likes it when people pay attention to her, not her figure (which is stunning, by the way) or clothes.
Emma likes to look feminine and elegant, a little sexy and playful. She wears high heels and delicate accessories. Golden clutches and a radiant smile are her most favorite accessories though.
